- Use herbs for flavoring instead of salt.
- Steam, roast or broil foods.
- Use a non-stick pan and non-stick spray rather than using solid fats, like butter.
- Make at least 1/2 of your grains whole grains.
- Aim to eat 4-5 cups of fruits and vegetables every day.
- Fish and shellfish, beans, peas, lentils, eggs and low-fat cottage cheese are some examples of protein foods that can be used in place of poultry and meat.
